Gliding With John Williams

Airborne! I've flown in plenty of commercial airliners, and I always feel safe in them. But the safest I've ever felt airborne was in this glider.

Commercial airliners need their motors, by definition. Without the necessary thrust the wings just aren't big enough to support all of that weight.

The glider has a glide ratio of 50:1, meaning that for every foot of altitude it can glide another 50 feet. Or, for every mile of altitude, it can glide for 50 miles.
