Kabuki-Cho, and Shinjuku

The Ameyoko Arcade in Ueno became the black market of Tokyo after the bombings of World War II, when goods were difficult to obtain. It's still a bustling shopping district, but you are more likely to find Levi's and Hello Kitty than anything extremely "underground."
